Sanctuary Choir
The Sanctuary Choir is open to anyone interested in singing and making a joyful noise to the Lord. This group sings seasonally, rehearsing for large events such as the Christmas and Easter cantatas. Rehearsals for Christmas usually begin in late September, and the choir sings on a few Sundays during the rehearsal period. The Christmas cantata is traditionally performed on the third Sunday of December with a chamber orchestra, soloists, and narration. The Easter cantata is typically performed on Palm Sunday and is similar to the Christmas cantata in its format. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary.
Hurstbourne Singers
The Hurstbourne Singers is a dedicated chamber group of highly trained musicians who come together to perform each year for a variety of special events. This talented group primarily focuses on classical pieces and advanced literature tailored for significant occasions such as the Juneteenth service, All Saints Day, and numerous other important celebrations throughout the year. This ensemble is comprised of exceptionally skilled musicians who showcase their advanced abilities and extensive musical training. They engage in focused rehearsals as needed to prepare for these special events, ensuring that each performance is both polished and memorable.
Instrumentalists
Hurstbourne Christian Church is proud to offer a wide range of opportunities for instrumentalists to demonstrate their unique talents and share them meaningfully in worship. From performing captivating solos to participating in the chamber orchestra for our inspiring cantatas, as well as forming small ensembles or simply accompanying the hymns in worship, we wholeheartedly encourage anyone who plays an instrument to get involved with our vibrant music ministry. Your contributions can greatly enhance our worship experience.
String Quartet
Our worship service features a talented string quartet comprised of skilled local musicians on the third Sunday of each month. These dedicated musicians significantly enhance our worship experience by performing during the Prelude, creating a thoughtful ambiance during the Moment of Reflection, accompanying the soloist or choir as needed, and supporting our hymn singing with their harmonious melodies.
Solos/Small Ensembles
We are truly blessed to have so many wonderfully talented musicians in our congregation, each contributing their unique gifts to our community. Our worship services offer a delightful variety of vocal solos, duets, trios, quartets, and any combination of small ensembles to enrich our experience. This diverse range of musical expressions enhances our gatherings, fostering a deeper sense of connection and worship among all who attend.
Christmas Jazz Event
We host our enchanting Christmas Jazz event each December, featuring our wonderfully talented pianist, Coty Taylor, along with his incredibly skilled friends. As we gather together in the cozy fellowship hall for delightful charcuterie and the joyous sounds of festive holiday music, there’s truly nothing better to lift your spirits and immerse you in the magical Christmas spirit! We warmly welcome all individuals to join us at any of our events or services, regardless of background or experience.
Local School Groups
