Hurstbourne Youth

Youth (6th-12th grade)

Hurstbourne has a variety of opportunities for our youth.

  • Monthly Trips: Once a month our youth take a team-building trip. Each year we go to Holiday World, Bowling, Malibu Jacks, and many other places.

  • Sunday Youth Group: 11:45am-1pm. The youth stay after church for fun, fellowship, and community building, where the group grows closer together by focusing on friendships. We start with a quick lunch followed by some group faith-building activities.

Youth Adventures

  • Mission trip: Each year mission trips provide youth the opportunity to put their faith into action and learn the importance of helping others. In 2020 the youth mission trip will be to the Bahamas!

  • Summer Camp: Each summer, the Disciples churches in KY offer age-appropriate camps for elementary, middle, and high school students. Our youth attend Camp Wakon Da-Ho.

  • CYF Seminar: A mobile classroom experience offered to high school students . The group travels to NYC and Washington DC to experience different cultures and religions.

Youth-led Worship

Youth are considered full members of our church community and, as such, actively participate in each part of our worship experience, with many taking on the important roles of reading scripture or offering prayers during the service. Once a year, the youth have a unique opportunity to take the lead, where they are responsible for planning and overseeing the entirety of the worship service. On this special Sunday, they meticulously prepare the theme, select the songs, craft the prayers, and even deliver the message, allowing them to express their faith and creativity in meaningful ways.
