Hurstbourne Kids
Children’s Church
At 10:30 AM worship, children ages 3rd grade and under are invited after the children’s moment to attend Worship and Wonder. This is an engaging worship experience that allows children to learn more about Bible stories through a visual learning experience. Worship and Wonder follows the structure of our main worship service in order to help children transition to worship when they are ready. Worship and Wonder allows time for children to wonder and explore their faith, share in a feast time, and fellowship with one another.
Fun Events
Children go on several yearly outings with Hurstbourne. Last year we went tubing at Perfect North, to see a movie, to a Christmas gift exchange at pastor Mike’s farm, and had a lock-in.
Hurstbourne Youth
Youth (6th-12th grade)
Hurstbourne has a variety of opportunities for our youth.
Monthly Trips: Once a month our youth take a team-building trip. Each year we go to Holiday World, Bowling, Malibu Jacks, and many other places.
Sunday Youth Group: 11:45am-1pm. The youth stay after church for fun, fellowship, and community building, where the group grows closer together by focusing on friendships. We start with a quick lunch followed by some group faith-building activities.
Youth Adventures
Mission trip: Each year mission trips provide youth the opportunity to put their faith into action and learn the importance of helping others. In 2020 the youth mission trip will be to the Bahamas!
Summer Camp: Each summer, the Disciples churches in KY offer age-appropriate camps for elementary, middle, and high school students. Our youth attend Camp Wakon Da-Ho.
CYF Seminar: A mobile classroom experience offered to high school students . The group travels to NYC and Washington DC to experience different cultures and religions.
Youth-led Worship
Youth are full members of our church and therefore participate in each part of worship, with many reading scripture or prayers during service.
Once a year, youth lead the entirety of the worship service. During this Sunday they are responsible for planning and leading the worship preparing the theme, songs, prayers, and even the message.
